ESP32 & custom firmwares
Cheap, tiny, and endlessly reprogrammable — the ESP32 is the workhorse of DIY wireless tooling.
For the price of a coffee you get a WiFi and Bluetooth radio with a programmable MCU attached, which is why so much offensive wireless tooling targets it. Marauder is the best-known build for WiFi and BLE recon and deauth work; Bruce is a broader multi-purpose offensive firmware covering WiFi, BLE, RF, RFID and IR across a range of boards. Lilygo's T-Display and T-Embed boards are popular targets because they ship with a screen and battery already attached, and the newer ESP32-C5 adds 5 GHz.
