THUGS(red) BBS
A keyboard-driven ANSI/ASCII bulletin board system that runs inside a CRT — on the web. Messages, files, door games, node chat, all dial-up ritual included.
Dial in and get the whole ritual: the monitor powers on, a BIOS POST scrolls by, ATDT tones out your own IP address rendered as a phone number, a synthesised modem screams through its handshake, "CONNECT 57600" prints, and it auto-types you into a full bulletin board — message conferences and boards, a file library with rank gates and a SysOp approval queue, door games (Hangman, Blackjack, Hunt the Wumpus and more, each with a hall of fame), node chat, a live news wire and a voting booth — all ANSI, all 256-colour, all rendered inside a real CRT with working brightness/colour knobs and a power button. The terminal side is a thin client: every keystroke posts to the server, PHP walks a navigation stack and renders styled runs rather than HTML, and screens and menus are rows in the database, so the SysOp can reshape the board live. MariaDB backs everything, PII is libsodium-encrypted, and there is a full audit log and call log alongside RBAC. MIT licensed.
